Busy NW Ohio Weekend!

Over the weekend Max and I headed to NW Ohio for lots of fun! On Friday Max took his first swim in the pond on his own. I was out in the middle of the pond with Mom and he came swimming out to us! Saturday was Put In Bay with the girls for Deanna's bachelorette party and Sunday held the NR Fireman's picnic and bridal shower. On Monday I made home-made noodles with Chris's family and headed back to Columbus. I think I'll need this week to recover from all the festivities!

It's a good thing we live close to the airport!

I spent a much needed weekend in the Outer Banks (or as I called it "that really long thing on the map") North Carolina catching up with friends and celebrating Mike and Kendra's wedding. Chris and I met Mike and Kendra through some mutual friends in NC and they quickly became good friends of ours. Kendra can make a mean chocolate chip cookie, her secret is amaretto creamer and Mike serves in the Army with Chris. I was so thrilled to be a part of their special day and Chris missed being there, of course. Kendra and Mike had a lovely catholic wedding mass and then a fun reception at a local beach club with dinner around the pool and beach access with a bonfire. It was a short trip, down on Saturday and back on Sunday but that didn't end my trips to the airport! On Tuesday, I dropped of Alicia for her 8 week European adventure. I'm so excited to see her on the other side in August and hear all about her backpacking across Europe! By the way, our new house is only 10 minutes from the airport. Here are a few photos of the weekend:

Little of this, little of that

Here are a few photos of some of the projects I've been working on this week. I planted a herb garden in the raised bed along our back deck. We now have basil, rosemary, chives, mint, dill and parsley. I hope they do well there. I let Max run around in the raised beds while I was planting and he was all about digging and throwing soil/mulch everywhere. When I put him down, he went for a swim in the waterfall in the yard and was completely wet! I was surprised since he doesn't like water.

I've gotten the built-in china cabinet painted, loaded and put new hardware on it. I purchased a new light fixture for the dining room and am waiting for someone to install it and hang some artwork then the dining room will be finished! It is so nice to be able to display some of the gifts from our wedding that we've had boxed up for the past 2 1/2 years!

And the verdict is in...

Last Friday Chris had his interview with Ohio State for MBA school. It was over the phone since he obviously couldn't do a face-to-face interview from Afghanistan. Chris received an email from OSU this week.....and he's been accepted in the Fisher College of Business for his MBA (class of 2010) Click here for the acceptance video they sent.

I'm so proud of Chris for getting in and I know that he will be an excellent student!

Guess he'll be doing a lot more of this!

Max hanging out...

Sometimes when Max is relaxed or sleeping, he sticks his tongue out. We think it's the funniest thing and thought we would share!

Steve's 50th Birthday!

This post is a week or two late but here are some photos of Steve's 50th Birthday cookout at Tim and Danielle's home. Most of the family was able to get together to celebrate and enjoy the beautiful day!

And the gold is gone...

Here are some of the before and after photos of our almost complete dining room! I need to touch up the paint in a few spots, get a new light fixture and wash Max. His curiosity got the best of him while I was painting and he gained a few extra white markings. I was afraid that it would be too dark but I really do love the new color.

Once I've properly laid out the room and accessorized, I'll post more photos.
