Sonya's Girls Weekend in NYC

Annie and Kelly Shopping in Rockafeller Plaza

Kelly and Annie at The Sunburnt Cow

Kelly, Annie and Sonya on the Subway after Mimosas

I spent the weekend in NYC visiting Kelly and Annie. After a busy week in the office and the start of a cold, I flew to the city on Friday afternoon for a fun and relaxing weekend with friends. As always Kelly and I managed to have a great time together and lived up to our London motto of "We'll sleep when we get home"! We met at the airport and took the subway into the city after purchasing our $20.00 metro cards. By the time we made it to Annie's studio apartment and got settled it was 10pm. We headed to Citrus, a local place for drinks and something to eat. We tried a couple of the appitizers and I think the Trio of Dips was the best.

On Saturday we started with my favorite hobby, shopping (sale shopping that is)! I purchased a cute cocktail dress that I've been eyeing at Banana. Then we met my elementary school friend Jenni for brunch at a place called The Sunburnt Cow for unlimited mimosas....always trouble! We tried to shop after that but weren't very productive so we went back to Annie's for some rest and takeout food. Kelly and I stopped at Crumbs, a New York City bakery famous for their cupcakes. Yum, they were delcious! We decided to go out in LBD's (Little Black Dresses) that evening and only made it down the block to another local place. We only stayed or a drink or two after our busy day in the city.

Sunday morining brought Kelly and I to the Manhattan diner for breakfast and then explored Annie's Upper West Side neigborhood before we all went to the MET (Metropolitan Museum of Art) for some culture. It doesn't matter how many times I've been there, I always see something new. I think my favorite part this time was the two rooms of Degas paintings and the room full of Buddha statues! After the MET we did even more shopping and then back to Annie's to grab our bags and head to the airport. Kelly and I decided to take the subway because it worked so well to get us into the city.....but that wasn't the case this time! It took us 2 hours to get to JFK Airport and I missed my flight, the last flight into Columbus for the night. The best that Delta could do was the 9am flight on Monday morning, meaning I would miss 1/2 a day at the office. At this point the cold was hitting me full force and I just decided to get a room at the Hampton Inn for the night. Overall, it was a great weekend and I'm glad I got to catch up with some of my girlfriends before Chris comes home in the next couple of weeks!
